THE NEW UMBRELLA

The Umbrella Magazine, (so named because the inventor of the umbrella is buried in the crypt)  is a long standing St.Mary's institution which nowadays also includes our sister church St.Christopher's Hanwell..  Originally produced in black and white, a new all colour version with photographs of the contributors was launched in January 2009.  The New Umbrella focusses on members of the congregation and their religious experience.  Recent article subjects have been Helen Cosstick's experiences training to become a curate, how a television producer used his faith to cope with a fear of flying and working in a leper colony in Bangladesh.  There is also some poetry, a caption competition and a joke or two.  The New Umbrella is published every two months.  Copies cost £1 and can be found in the vestibule of both churches after Sunday services.
